Sydney Trip - Winter Magic Festival

Image
Finally getting around to posting about my trip to Sydney. We went down for a holiday that just so happened to be right when my Dad (Mikie) had heart surgery. Usually when we go back Home it is so very rushed, this time I wanted the girls to do some holiday things that they would remember.     In the 30+ years I lived in the Blue Mountains I had never been to the Winter Magic Festival, it use to be 'When all the Freaks, came out to play', but I thought it is something different and you don't get to see Blue Mountain Freaks very often so hey lets do it. Now I grew up in the Lower Blue Mountains, it is very different to the Upper Mountains, we really are just suburbia with bushland and less traffic.. We got on the train and as we travelled closer to our destination it become clear the freaks were out to play. My Mum is the queen of giving the eye and the nod - did you see that signal.   As we got off at Katoomba it was just a little cold, I didn't even have a t...

Spaghetti in your ear

Image
Each Tuesday night at church we have an activity for youth 12-18 yr olds. This week we got them over to our house to run around the oval across the rd for a game of capture the flag with the twist.  Twist 1. It was dark Twist 2. They all had flour bombs to throw at each other  Twist 3.  The leaders all stood in the middle throwing food at them.  The reaction of the youth when they got hit with spaghetti when they thought that we only had flour.  Haha. I never want to grow up

Spec-tacular

My glasses girls. We now have two princesses in glasses and they look just so cute.   We picked up Miss Poppy's glasses last Thursday night. She has to wear them all the time. After school on Friday I asked how she went with her new glasses today? She replied "good mum I was heaps smarter today" How easy would life be if we could be instantly smarter if we just got a new pair of Specs.

Creating memories when you're not here

Image
Every second of a memory is so important when you don't have many. Three and a half years ago the heartache was too much, I couldn't understand how all the hopes and dream all the plans we had made had suddenly changed. All the things that we wanted to do, all the memories that we thought that we would have, all gone in a moment which defines the biggest memory of my life. We have changed, we have grown, we have added to our family but still I have to keep your memory alive. I want to create more memories that include you but how can a do that when you are not in my arms? How can your sisters have memories of you, other then photos?  When we were in Sydney for the school holidays the girls asked to go to Riley's grave to see where his box was under the dirt. I couldn't take them because although it has been three years his grave stone had not been set. It sounds awful, like we waited years but this is not the case. We knew he was there, but we don't believe ...

Poppy's Birthday

Image
I'm finally getting around to transferring my photos from Poppy's birthday in May. Now being the wonderful Mum that I am, I can remember her Birthday like it was yesterday and can give a detail description of what she got and how she loved all her presents. This is not actually the case but with Poppy you could give her an empty box for her birthday and a plate of sausages and she would be happy.     My Dear Creative Crazy, most of the time loud and annoying Poppy, I hope you change the world with your amazing personality. I hope you never change your spirit for fun and adventure and for once it would be nice if you could let us all sleep in on the weekend. Happy 6th Birthday beautiful girl

He's so old he looks like he should be dead

Last week my parents came for a visit. It was so nice to be able to spend some time with them. It felt like ages ago that they came for their last visit. The girls didn't know they where coming so the surprise on Poppy's face when she opened the front door. She didn't know what she was meant to do, she just stood there like she didn't know these two people that were grinning from ear to ear. When Mum and Dad come up it normally includes lots of shopping, eating out, doing fun stuff with the kids and most importantly creating wonderful memories. This first photo is of my Dad and Josephine she just took a shine to him and wanted to hold his hand. It is the most darling photo. Dad would be able 6"2 so this long distance love is just the sweetest thing ever. As people walked past us at the shops and looked in our direction I wanted to stop them and say 'How cute are they, thats my rainbow baby that we fought so hard to get and my Dad thats about to have open ...

Organised Kaos

Image
I would like to be organised, I would like each day to have a plan and my house to always be clean. I would like to have freshly baked goodies for my kids as they come in from school. All those nice things that are warm and comforting and that "New Age Stay at Home Mums Do". Reality is vastly different to this, I don't spend my day doing ladies lunches and being so organised at home that I can sit and blog about my day. At the moment I'm operating on Organised Kaos mode, this mode also includes 'You will eat your dinner, lunch, breakfast or you will have nothing mode', 'you will vacuum the hair up in the bathroom that you shaved off your head mode' (it has been a week, I'm refusing to even walk in there) and 'get in the car and put your seat beat on or I will drive off mode'. I remember walking into my bedroom as a kid and seeing the mess and not seeing the floor and thinking where do I start. In that case my parents would normally find...
