I started to blog when a became pregnant with Riley and now, it is one of the few things i have to remember him by. We lost our darling little boy on 16th February 2010 at 31 weeks. I had a feeling that something was not right, that he hadn't moved much in the days leading up to his arrival so called the hospital and was told to come straight in to get checked out. I was concerned but thought that everything would be OK. Riley didn't move much or maybe is was that i'm always so busy that i only ever noticed it at night when i went to bed. When i was pregnant with the girls; we would see feet sticking out, so clearly that you could count their toes. This never happened with Riley and I put it down to being a different baby, he never really bothered me much at all. I was much less sick with Riley then i was with the girls that is for sure. I had to carry zip lock bags with me every where with the girls and with Riley I was sick but he always allowed me enough time to get to
As mothers day this year fell on Princess Poppy's birthday I didn't ask for presents but just what the kids got at school and preschool. From Monique When I asked her why she picked this one,she told me that she thought I would like it and it was a rock from Riley too. Some mums may find this a strange gift but i thought this was really sweet. The girls collect rocks for Riley, we have some that have travelled from Sydney with us. To have a little rock with Hope on it is so sweet to me and I'm so happy with my mothers day gift from Monique. From Poppy, she made a heart at preschool and got her teacher to write what she loves about me. I love to cook almost as much as Poppy loves to eat. Usually when asked what she loves most about mum she will reply with 'she is the best cooker'. My heart is filled with such joy. I love being a mum
An open letter to all As October marks International Pregnancy and Infant loss month it is time for many families to reflect on the impact one little soul has had on their lives even if it has been for such a short time. In 2010 we were awaiting the arrival of our third baby, our first boy. On the day that we found out Riley was a boy; my husband had a spring in his step as he planned our son’s future sporting career and when would be a good time to retire from local club footy to take on a coaching role. We were so excited and never ever did we expect that our only son would never get to come home with us. We were a busy young family with two girls aged 4 and 2, like any family a new baby brings about much planning, hospital appointments on a weekly basis as my pervious babies arrived a little early and running around being the mum with all hats on at once. We had brought a new house to accommodate the new member of our family, set up his room and washed all his clothes, we
